Why Massage Training UK is run residentially

The answer is super simple, really.

I have worked as a yoga teacher and run retreats for 13 years, and in that time have been a student and a facilitator for plenty of yoga trainings. Each of those training’s were immersive and residential and I always found myself drawn to that format sub-consciously. Why? Well, because turning up and having nothing to think or worry about other than exactly what you are are there to learn is like falling into another world, a portal that allows you to focus 100% on the task at hand. It also, creates bonds, friendships and communities that stand the test of time.

So, if we know that residential training styles work so well in heart led training spaces, why does massage always seem to get the rough end of that? Studios that aren’t designed for the purpose, carpeted (so gross) conference rooms with no facilities, dramas with parking, organising a packed lunch to take each day, the list goes on.

When Massage Training UK was born, I always knew it would be residential. For one, after 13 years of hosting and running retreats all over the world it is quite literally the space I know best - and I love it. But more importantly, I wanted people to be able to have an amazing experience in their learning that went beyond just walking away with a certificate.

The benefits of a residential massage training

Top reasons to love a residential massage training!

  • FOCUS - No commuting to and from, no getting caught up in life’s ‘day to day’. Being residential for your massage training means you can focus fully and allow someone else to look after the rest.

  • Relaxed environment - Learning a new skill is enough for your brain and your body to handle so a residential massage training means someone else does all the cooking and cleaning for you! No worrying about what to eat, washing up or laundry, we look after you every step of the way. O, and we have a hot tub, a sauna and stunning beach too.

  • The food - A training highlight for students is always the food! In fact, if you look at our Google reviews you will see that out chefs incredible feats are a firm highlight. We cater to all dietary requirements and create meals that support your learning and energy levels.

  • Community - At the end of your learning day you have time to escape and relax. But, we then all join together for meals and honestly this is where the magic happens! Friendships formed and incredible discussions unfold around laughter, fun and a shared experience. Everyone arrives a stranger, but by day three you sink into a flow of routine that means you feel at home and truly comfortable to just be yourself and enjoy the ride.

  • The extra things - Not being restricted by the 9 to 5 time frame means we have the freedom to explore the other layers that not just support you personally, but also your training and skills. Morning yoga enables you to feel into your body, learn how to look after yourself and understand the biomechanics of the human form better. Our evening sound bath helps you relax after a busy day learning but also, gives you an understanding of the wider energetic healing modalities available to you. Beach walks remind us how important our time away from ‘the office’, and yes that includes your massage couch, is and our sauna and hot tubs remind you that self care, is essential!

  • Time away - The one bit of feedback about our residential massage training that we get time and time again is, how good and important it felt to have time away. Your own bedroom and space to retreat too, time to reflect and readjust how you think and feel about certain elements of day to day life are all part of the magic of residential trainings. Sometimes, it is hard to see the extent of our possibilities and opportunities until we stap away and allow for the space to see them!

Clean, light filled spaces to learn and thrive!
